Jose Maria
Lucero Jr.
Aug 10, 1941 — Jul 27, 2026
Let's raise a glass to our beloved husband, father, uncle, Grand Pops and Marine, Jose Maria Lucero, Jr. The youngest of six in his family, "Joe" or "Pepe," learned valuable lessons growing up from siblings, and especially his dear sister, Carmen Holguin, who now has begrudgingly won their bet of who would outlive the other. He was a young Marine and stationed in Okinawa, Japan, when he met Kiyoko Aka and promised her they would marry one day. He kept that promise, and they married two times before settling down together back in Albuquerque. They stayed by each other's side for 62 years. Joe taught us how to be strong, independent, and live your life to the fullest.
He is survived by his wife Kiyoko, sis Carmen, son's Jose Maria Lucero III and Steven Lucero, daughter Elizabeth Michiko Moffatt (Lucero), grandsons Alexandar, Xavier, and Silas, spouses Denise Lucero and Michael Moffatt, along with so many more family and friends.
We are sure Jose is looking down on all of us, wishing nothing but the best during this time. From sole to soul, he would also want us to celebrate together, so that's what we will do. Let's raise a glass of Coors Light, smoke a cigar and celebrate his wonderful life. We invite you all to join us August 8th at Affinity at 10:00 am with a reception to follow.
